Groove Atlas

"Omnivorous musical tastes, bouncy bluegrass inspired music, folk rock, and some straight up guitar driven alternative"

Our Story

Our Story

Groove Atlas’ instrumentation morphs to meet the needs of the song and the energy of their environment. Whether it’s intimate spaces that call for the tender trills of the mandolin or energetic rooms that demand the roar of electric guitars, Groove Atlas fits right in.

Based in Northern New England, Groove Atlas strives to bridge the gap between psychedelic rock and Americana. Their repertoire includes a broad selection of nostalgia-inducing covers and original music that speaks to the unique social and political challenges of our time.

With every performance, Groove Atlas brings a sense of spontaneity and precision that draws listeners into a shared experience. Their dynamic approach keeps their sound fresh and fitting, no matter the setting.

Our Music

Our Music

In Fall of 2024 we had the pleasure of running away to a dear friend’s barn in the woods of Maine for a weekend to capture a snapshot of our music. We recorded three songs that felt like the kind of music you’re supposed to play in a barn.

Barn Sessions

Haze is perhaps the first tune that we really created as a collective. The song speaks to the unexpected ways we experience the climate crisis.

Muse was one of the final tracks we recorded for the Record Production Month Challenge in 2021. It came together in a day and turned out to be one of our favorite tunes from the project, but it was overdue for an updated recording and was an obvious choice for the Barn Sessions.

As a New England based band, we’re contractually obligated to have a song about mountains. Our take on this timeless topic for songwriters attempts to offer insight into why the mountains call to us and how a personified mountain might feel about our presence.

Live at Rising Tide

Check out this selection of our favorite live recordings from our residency at Rising Tide Brewery in Portland Maine during the summer 2024.

Live on 92.5 The River

Summer of 2022, we had the pleasure of visiting the River Music Hall and performing a few of our tunes. This is our performance of St. Josephs Farm.

Four young men standing in front of a wall covered with signatures and drawings, smiling and pointing at a large black and white sign that reads 'The River.' One man has a beard and glasses, others are smiling and gesturing, all casually dressed.
Four men standing with musical instruments in front of a large sign reading '92.5 the river'. The first man on the left holds a banjo, the second man holds a double bass, the third holds a mandolin, and the fourth holds an acoustic guitar. They are smiling and standing on a red patterned rug.
